As I have been picked twice in as many weeks to go up on stage to do the goldilocks routine, I thought that it would be a nice gesture to take the two bottles of bubbly and give them to the hard working people at the nursing home who are looking after my dad. I handed the bottles over today so that they can celebrate the new year with a bit of fizz. They were really pleased. Needless to say I made sure that the residents knew how I had come to have the bottles. Gave them all a laugh.

thanks, the situation at the moment is that my dad is in the home on a permanent basis. He needs too much nursing care for my mum to be able to look after him, or us for that matter. He had a major stroke and a number of other complications in May of last year following a double heart bypass. He was in hospital for a good six months. He knows who we are but he is very confused, is in a wheel chair permanently. Paralysed down his left side. Needless to say he has been through the mill a bit. So we are hoping that this year is going to be a better one for all of us. Think it was the chuckle shows we went to last year that has helped to keep us all going here. The two panto shows certainly put the icing on the cake for 2006 for us. Couldnt have finished the year off any better. The guys at the nursing home are having a new year party so the bubbly is going down really well.

Nice one Julie, it was a great thought.
There should be more people like you around.

Just thought Id let you know that the guys at the home really enjoyed it. Helped get their new year off to a good start, considering that they have had to work over the christmas period while a lot of people are on holiday, and its not a particularly pleasant job at times cos some of the people in there can be quite testing, my dad included.
